If you were watching Carson Daly on July 17th, you may have caught Mioposto pizza maker Kyle and his band, Kay Kay and his Weathered Underground playing. If not, they have a video for you to watch on their website, or you can catch them tomorrow night at the Capitol Hill Block Party. Playing the Vera Stage at 10:15, these guys will be showing Capitol Hill what music from Mt. Baker sounds like.

You can get more information from their website www.bombsoverbellevue.com or see them at El Corazon on August 25th or Endfest at Qwest Field on September 22nd.
Atlas at Sunset Supper
July 27, 2007
This just in from the outpost at Atlas Foods, they have figured out what they are serving for the Sunset Supper on August 10th at the Pike Place Market. On a related note, I think I know where you can find me on August 10th–trying to eat and drink as many of these as possible before they reach the public! That is because the food will be albacore poke–if you haven’t tried it at your local sushi restaurant, poke is a type of fish sald dressed in sesame soy deliciousness. If that saltiness is making you thirsty, no need to stray, because the quencher coming out will be blackberry lemon martinis. Sounds like a pretty dreamy snack to me. See you guys there!
We Cain’t Say No to Endolyne’s
July 26, 2007
A while back we had our famous sing for your supper event at Endolyne Joe’s, and two wonderful women not only sang for their supper, but wrote there very own song in honor of Joe’s. When I recieved it here in the office, I felt that everyone else ought to learn the lyrics to. So thank you, Ladies, here is your masterpiece:
We’re just two grilz that c’aint say no.
We’re in a terrible fix
We always say ‘one more to go’
Just when we oughter say nix
When we’re at the bar at Endolyne’s
We always say that we’ll just have a snack
But the menu there at Endolyne’s
Makes us eat as if we were on crack!!!
They say that they’ve ‘home cooking’ there
but at my home, no one can cook like that!
It’s all because of Endolyne’s
It’s THEIR fault that we’re so doggone fat!
They’re breakfasts are so hard to beat
Or course we like their lunch and dinners too
We used to be size eight or ten
Now we’re inching up to twenty-two!
Blame Endolyne’s for our excess
How can we stay looking svelte?
When we must have the tuna melt?
We’ll have to loosen our belt!
We C’AINT say no!!!!
Cookin’ for Casablanca
July 19, 2007
Yesterday was the first tasting for the upcoming Casablanca menu for Coastal Kitchen. Having been a huge port country, we learned that Morroccan food comes from a variety of influences, including the Berbers, Arabs, French and Spanish. Thus there were familiar ingredients and even a few dishes tht might be like something you’ve seen before. The favorite appetizer was by far the pan-seared Kasseri cheese, topped with a terrific peach chutney.
The appetizers in general were big hits with others being salt cod fritters with lemon coriander aioli and preserved lemon and cucumber relish and the sauteed mussels dish. The new salad was also a big hit, with the shaved kasseri cheese playing off the dried apricots on sumac spiced almonds on top of spinach, frisee and baby arugula dressed in orange honey vinaigrette.
Then we moved on to the entrees, and the platter for two came out, chock full of shrimp and tuna and chicken and the amazing underdog stunner, the artichoke carrot citrus salad. I personally enjoyed the sole, made fish and chips style but with a falafel coating replacing the usual dredge, but the overwhelming staff favorite was the grilled yellowtail. Lying on a simple bed of basmati rice, this dish is brought together by the amazing charmoula sauce on it (see ‘Sunset Supper’ entry for what charmoula is). With a side of glazed root vegetables, this dish has everything you could want from your fish.

Sunset Supper Dishes Getting Prepared
July 13, 2007
If you don’t know what the Sunset Supper is, take a quick refresher here, but prepare to be hungry! This fantastic celebration, happening August 10th, supports the many great causes housed at the Pike Place market: The Senior center, day care, medical center, and more. This year being the centennial celebration, you know all the dishes will have to be even tastier than last year. Coastal Kitchen has already come up with its plan for what to serve, Ahi tuna with charmoula. Unsure what charmoula is? The Encyclopedia of Food Knowledge (a.k.a. Anthony, our Executive Chef) describes it as a spicy, colorful Middle-Eastern relish. So prepare your toungues and buy your tickets today! (helpful hint: they are only $75 if you buy them before the 23rd of July.
A New Look for Mioposto
July 11, 2007

If you happen to pick up a coffee or a pizza or maybe even just a menu in the next few days at Mioposto, you may notice a big change. We have begun to use a new logo for Mioposto, one that we feel is more in the spirit of the restaurant. It was designed by Emi Matsumoto, who used to be a waitress at the 5 Spot, but has moved on to become a full time designer. She was also responsible for the wonderful graphics used by the Dine for Darfur event. So come on down, pick up a pick-me-up and see the new logo!
