5 Spot Family in the News
May 31, 2007
Queen Anne residents might recognize the friendly face on the front of this week’s Queen Anne News as Dick Kearns, father of the 5 Spot’s general manager, Dave Kearns. Both father and son are long time residents of Queen Anne and have spent much of their lives bettering life on the hill for residents. Be sure to check out the story on Dick and say hi to Dave the next time you are in the 5 Spot.
Napa Valley Vinos and Nibbles at the Hi-Life
May 25, 2007
Yesterday was the Hi-Life’s tasting for their new menu featuring the food and wine of Napa Valley. The first thing I have to say about this tasting was that it was beautiful, all the presentations looked amazing! Prepared waiter Jonah was there with his camera and took some pictures, so hopefully we’ll get those up soon. Secondly, everything was geared toward the summer. It all matched the amazing sunny whether we had, I just envisioned myself sitting out on the patio with golden gazpacho soup and proscuitto and peach salad! And of course, a culinary tour of Napa would not be complete without the amazing wines that made this region famous. General Manager Elizabeth and resident wine maven Kitty did a great job of educating the waiters so be sure to ask your server for their recommendations from our extensive list on Napa bottles and glasses when the menu comes up on June 6th.
Just Like Mama Made–at Mioposto
May 25, 2007
Mioposto will soon be starting a new breakfast menu consisting of Italian cafe inspired dishes, all made in house in our wood-fired oven. At the tasting on Wednesday we sampled a variety of quiches and frittatas, even Bill’s take on a breakfast stromboli! My personal favorite was a quiche pie with proscuitto and drizzled with tutto calabria puree. This personal sized little dish packs a serious punch of heat–nothing like a little spice in the morning to get that brain ticking on the way to work.
Mioposto Employees Win Film Contest

Mioposto kitchen employee Martin Jarmick was a winner of the local ‘Three Minute Film Festival’. His film, “3,2,1, Movie” was created with a crew of other Mioposto employees (recognize the actor?) and gives a whimsical look at the creation of a movie with out human hands. For a full description, see the Seattle Times article. If this piques your interest, search for Martin on YouTube for a sampling of work by the creative minds that also mould your favorite pizzas.
